A few words

The Abbas Shafii Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating opportunities, fostering hope, and transforming lives through education, empowerment, and humanitarian support. Founded on the belief that every individual deserves the chance to thrive regardless of background or circumstance, the Foundation works to provide sustainable solutions to pressing social challenges.

Our mission is to uplift communities by promoting access to quality education, healthcare, skills development, and poverty alleviation initiatives. Through partnerships, innovative programmes, and direct outreach, we seek to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity.

Abass Shafii,
Founder

My name is Abbas Shaffi from Oregon, United States. I am overjoyed to have won the record-breaking Powerball jackpot of $328.5 million on January 17, 2025.

Winning this lottery has completely changed my life, the lives of my family, and those around me. I plan to use my prize to travel, invest, and share my good fortune with sincere non-profit organizations.

As much as I am shocked and ecstatic to have won, I believe the real winner is the Oregon public school system. The mission of the Oregon Lottery is to provide supplemental funding for public education—both schools and colleges—and this makes my win a great blessing for the entire state. Having personally benefited from Oregon’s public education system, I am deeply gratified to know that my win will also strengthen it for future generations.

Beyond this, I want you and your family to share in the happiness we feel today. I have voluntarily decided to donate a portion of my winnings as part of my charitable investment project, aimed at increasing joy and improving lives for a number of lucky people around the world. My hope is that these beneficiaries will use the funds wisely to fight poverty, uplift the less privileged, support orphans, and assist local charities in their communities.

I do not seek recognition or credit for these efforts. My only wish is that those who benefit will continue to do good and spread kindness. I come from a family of givers, and this is simply a continuation of the values I was raised with. For me, there is no mistake in giving—it is always the right choice when it puts a smile on someone’s face.
